Client Site Project
Overview
This project emerged from a web design class, where students collaborated in pairs to develop fictional brand or company websites. My assignment was to construct a site for a client who envisioned a plant-oriented soap production and retail business, providing company details, operational methods, and a catalog of their products.
"How I made the site Simple, Appealing, and Informative."
What the client wanted
3
Purpose:
Providing Eco friendly soap at low prices for younger generations and older generations, for people who truly care about the health of their own lives, as well as, the health of the planet they live in.
2
Target audience:
All ages, primary target market 20 year olds that care about the environment and their health.
1
Main Point:
Selling both hand and bar soaps, the website should inform the costumer of the brands ideas and morals on how they wish to accomplish creating soap that is good for the person and good for the planet at an amazing price.
Simple
Appealing
Informative
The overall layout of the website is made so the consumer can’t get lost, it does not have any elements that might pull the overall flow of the consumer away. There are also no elements that might distract the user, the main point is to get the consumer to the products quickly and I defenenlty get that done right on the home page.
In order to make the site appealing to someone who would be interested in plant based soap, I tried to use more earthy tones for the website and also only use pictures of plants along with soaps to really bring that message across to someone who might not know of the company. This also allowed me to create an aesthetic.
The information of the company hits the consumer as soon as they open up the page. This quickly allows the user to understand what the brand is about. I also added an about page to someone who might be interested in learning more about the company or if a person wants to make sure their morals align with the brands.
Wireframing
Since I needed to keep the overall theme simple I decided to only add images and text where it was necessary, this also helps with not confusing the user and having an overall better flow. Wire-framing also allowed me to put notes on the side of what kind of images I was thinking to input and colors I wanted to use.
Prototyping
Since this site was going to be hand coded, a prototype would help us code a lot faster due to the fact that we would know before hand of exactly what we wanted it to look like. Also able ot see what would work and what wouldn’t before wasting time coding.
